Lagos State Government has really confirmed itself as the centre of excellence and a pace setter through its unprecedented inclusion of the professional certificates of the Computer Professionals (Registration Council of Nigeria) (CPN) in the scheme of service.  The decision of the State Government is a big boost to the efforts of the Council at enhancing the status of Information Technology professionals in the private and public sector. It will also improve Information Technology penetration in Nigeria and promote professionalism in the highly dynamic industry.

In a Lagos  State  Government   Circular No 06 with reference number CIR/HOS/10/Vol1/06 dated 18th of January, 2010, titled “Enhancement of  Career  Prospect/Progression in  the State Public  Service”, the Lagos  State Government stated that:

• Candidates with Ph.D/M.Sc/B.Sc/HND plus Chartered Information Technology/Professional Certificate (CITP) should be placed on GL 10 in the Programme Analyst Cadre.
• Promotion  from  Grade  Levels 12 to 13 in the Programme   Analyst  Cadre  should include registration  with  Computer  Professionals  Council of  Nigeria (CPN), and
• Any  candidate with Computer  Professional  Examination 1 (CPE 1) and  ND or its equivalent plus Associate  Information  Technology  Professional  Certificate  (AITP)  should be placed on Grade Level 07 and Grade Level  08 respectively in the Data  Processing Cadre.
